Effective October 24, 2026
The StarChores app doesn't collect any information about you or your kids. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and we never see your family's data. It stays on your devices and in your own iCloud. If you contact us for help, we use what you send only to reply.
To work, StarChores stores what you put into it: kids' names and pictures, chores, check-offs, stars, rewards, bonus amounts, days off and settings. Parent and kid PINs are stored only as scrambled codes (salted hashes), never as the PINs themselves.
This information is kept on your device. If iCloud is turned on, it is also kept in your own iCloud account so your devices stay in sync. We run no servers of our own, so none of it is sent to us. Apple's Privacy Policy covers how iCloud stores it.
If you invite the other parent or your kids' Apple accounts, StarChores shares the family's data with those accounts through iCloud. Only the people you invite can see it, and you can stop sharing at any time from the app.
You can choose a photo as a kid's picture. iOS lets the app see only the photo you pick, not the rest of your library. That photo is saved with the family's data.
Reminders are scheduled on your device. Alerts that a chore is waiting for a parent's OK arrive through iCloud when a family member ticks it off. You can turn notifications off in Settings at any time.
If you export a backup, StarChores saves a file wherever you choose in the Files app. What happens to it after that is up to you and the service you saved it to.
StarChores is made for families, and kids use it every day. We don't collect personal information from anyone, including children, and the app shows no ads.
To delete everything, use Delete this family in the app. That removes the family from every device and from iCloud. Deleting the app removes the copy on that device.
If you contact us through the support form or by email, we receive your name, email address, device type and message. We use them only to answer you. Messages are delivered to our support mailbox, hosted by Microsoft 365, and we never sell them or share them with anyone else. The support form itself keeps no copy of your message and sets no cookies. To block spam, it remembers your internet address in memory for a few minutes and then forgets it.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
